Green eyes down on Coney Island Blvd Fantasy lifes below Sipping Corn whiskey Still is coming slow La la … So, I Think Of You La la … So, I Think Of You Scared of the weekend When there ain’t nothing to do Nothing to distract me So, I think of you La la … So, I Think Of You La la … So, I Think Of You Smoke-ring-haloes in the air As I as pace and ash the floor In my time, I let you down When I stumbled out that door La la … So, I Think Of You La la … So, I Think Of You All this guilt surrounds me It’s hard to get through Fall apart during the week It’s just what I do La la … It’s so hard to get through La la … It’s just what I do

Met me at Bellevue I took a little too much Saw me in the comfort room You wanted to get in touch? Waited by the discharge door 24 hours or more Crazy kinda courtship When your love’s shackled to the floor Bridge: No loud noises/No sudden touches/No shiny objects/I don’t blades/No bright lights/Keep down the shades I just know when I get out The antipsychotics wear off We’ll be so good together Note: I get triggered by sunny weather You’re the kinda girl I want to know Just don’t get to close Gotta lot of hangups A little more than most Bridge: No loud noises/No sudden touches/No shiny objects/I don’t blades/No bright lights/Keep down the shades Ya met me at Bellevue I took a little too much Saw me in the comfort room You wanted to get in touch?

Chorus: Blue eyes gone green/ Can’t take back what I’ve seen Blue eyes gone green /Heaven’s moonbeam Catching leaves from an autumn sky/weightless moments mark time On a bench in Marcus Garvey park/the fall feels like it will last forever Chorus: Blue eyes gone green/ Can’t take back what I’ve seen Blue eyes gone green / Heaven’s moonbeam Your lips tell me what your words could never/You may be smart but you ain’t clever And as the trees went bare/in the silence I stare/thought I felt a chill in the air Chorus: Blue eyes gone green/ Can’t take back what I’ve seen Blue eyes gone green / Heaven’s moonbeam When it was good, I can remember/summer heat in December Now I look at you, tired and done/Should have known I wasn’t the forever one Chorus: Blue eyes gone green/ Can’t take back what I’ve seen Blue eyes gone green / Heaven’s moonbeam [Solo idea over verse] Chorus: Blue eyes gone green/ Thought I saw you in a magazine Blue eyes gone green / ain’t you in the magazine? Blue eyes gone green / I swear I saw ya in the magazine? Blue eyes gone green /ain’t you in the magazine?

Stars fall on the streets/but you can’t stop yourself/get in line/you want nothing else We had something good/ but you can’t stop yourself/get in line/you want nothing else Oh Barbara, like the days of grey Oh Barbara, born with sun hidden away Spent your birthday barricaded in the Carter Hotel/the lines on the table/you won’t live to tell Busted down the door/lost baby blue/lucky silver locket/couldn’t save you Pause D7 four count Bridge outro tag: I can see you/black wavy hair/big green eyes telin’ those beautiful lies Walk on by/ always someplace to be/never could hold you but you wanna be free I see you on 42nd and 8th, pinned, pinned eyes and torn lace I remember you, long black wavy hair/ those big green eyes/like a neon sunrise Oh Barbara, when you coming on home?

A sketch of you on 14th street A moment of what we were It feels like a contradiction To be with you when you’re not here I see your strange eyes behind dark lenses Watching me from afar I feel a dark surrender True life noir [Riff and then lyric] I’ll say it again I’ll say it again Yes, I’ll say it again I was a fool to let you in Chasing shadows/on my bedroom wall All across this City Looking for a heart to call home Brown bagging self pity I’ve lived without a lot of things
Blue skies are such a farce I’ve made sense of my life Grown proud of these scars I’ll say it again I’ll say it again Yes, I’ll say it again I was a fool to let you in Outro: Ask for nothing now your heart is broken It’s such a stupid lie Live your life with that door open It’s such a stupid lie

Chorus: Don’t you see - it never goes forward/ Don’t you know- they take you for a ride/ Get on it again /One day you’ll have enough  Verse Bright lights/make a big city Promise beams/ all around Ferris wheel of the night It’s imposing and stagnant  The thrill of going nowhere It gets you every time Cheap fade away the blues You just get right on Chorus: Don’t you see - it never goes forward/ Don’t you know- they take you for a ride/ Get on it again /One day you’ll have enough  Verse Ferris Wheels leave you dizzy Reeling from excitement
Soaring highs to get down low Seems like a big price to pay Maybe you get stuck way up there Held in up sway This one leads to that one Just can’t get away Chorus: Don’t you see - it never goes forward/ Don’t you know- they take you for a ride/ Get on it again /One day you’ll have enough

She’s a migraine Always a head game Kicking her words Like a smashed can down the street I feel the shame Then I feel numb People on the border Stir up disorder Chorus: You Don’t Know Me Like That/ Nah, you don’t know me like that I hear her words Ricochet in my head Maddening symphony Is it all really me? When I touch her The ghosts come near When she opens her eyes They disappear Chorus: You Don’t Know Me Like That/ Nah, you don’t know me like that My thoughts are an ocean And I’m Drownin’ on the street It’s just an afternoon Feels like this forever It’s such a shame This facocta shame You made your point I got a few words of my own Chorus: You Don’t Know Me Like That/ Nah, you don’t know me like that You Don’t Know Me Like That/ Nah, you don’t know me like that You Don’t Know Me Like That/ don’t talk to me like that You Don’t Know Me Like That/ Nah, you don’t know me like that Fade out loop chorus with whistle

Refrain: Slipping pulled you down/pile up in the snow I’m going slowly down/I know you don’t know Verse: We laughed, the collars of our coats wet (descending oohs) The wind blew, our eyes watered Waiting for that train like it’s all going to change We laughed, the collars of our coats wet The wind blew, our eyes watered Waiting for that train Desperate for change Chorus: Broken bottles in the snow Broken souls in the snow Can we begin, again? REPEAT End Slipping pulled you down/pile up in the snow

Verse - I don’t know a story without a tragic ending Between my life and the message my heart is sending Chorus [2 times] I love you In desperate times Yes, I love you Refrain I took the long way down the road
Didn’t call no one’s home I see you in the window Baby, I’ll get there Verse When the hurt is gone But bitterness remains And the birds sing a song You hear it over a blaring train Chorus I love you In desperate times Yes, I love you Refrain I took the long way down the road
Didn’t call no one’s home I see you in the window Baby, I’ll get there Verse Baby, we were bound to fadeaway Hold me one last time I want to be with you With every last breath Chorus I love you In desperate times Yes, I love you Refrain I took the long way down the road
Didn’t call no one’s home I see you in the window Baby, I’ll get there

about

LORNE BEHRMAN
(Bio, 2024)

“Real blood and guts rock and roll that bleeds with soul and redemption.” – Jesse Malin

Some of your worst times can be your best times. Punk singer-songwriter Lorne Behrman explores this on his visceral and vulnerable sophomore album, Blue Love, out February 9th, on Spaghetty Town Records. This 11-song collection recalls Bob Dylan as produced by Phil Spector in 1970s CBGBs on a full moon. It is a series of New York City vignettes haunted by shadows but guided by light. Blue Love will be preceded by the anthemic single, “The Blue Goes On Forever.”

“This album is about experiencing pain and joy at the same time—like finding new love when everything in your life feels like it’s falling apart,” the NYC-based artist says. “That’s the beautiful secret of life: there are some great times in shitty times.”

Previously, Lorne issued a critically-acclaimed EP and debut album that have garnered accolades and features in Classic Rock Magazine, Vive Le Rock Magazine, Metronome, Glide Magazine, New Noise, Goldmine, and taste-making punk mag Razorcake. Lorne has played shows with Richard Lloyd (Television), Jeremy & the Harlequins, Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group), Jonny Polonsky, Adam Masterson, Lulu Lewis, and Diane Gentile, among many others.

The stories on Blue Love are literate and lacerating, recalling the street poetics of Lou Reed, Jim Carroll, Jesse Malin, Patti Smith, Hubert Selby Jr., and Tom Waits. The songs feature stark and fluid guitar playing in the spirit of Television, The Stooges’ James Williamson, Johnny Thunders, and Robert Quine with Lou Reed. The album’s first single, “The Blue Goes On Forever,” explores an ill-fated romantic relationship where both parties are co-dependent and emotionally unstable. The single—the yacht-punk future classic, “Barbara”—is a cinematic portrayal of an achingly beautiful junkie romance à la Jerry Schatzberg’s 1971 gritty New York classic, Panic In Needle Park. The song’s warm and emotionally evocative video is directed by and stars the creative team of Dave Tierney (frontman of The Sweet Things) and Scarlett Thiele.

The New York Dolls-y, “The Bellevue Song,” is a hilarious and campy rocker about falling in love while in a mental hospital. “Ferris Wheels” melds 1970s KISS cowbell rock with poetic relationship insights. The dying-love reverie, “Meet Me On The Moon,” replete with teardrop slide guitar, is about hoping for a pause to take in one last nice moment before a breakup. The closing track, “Love In Desperate Times,” is an elegantly-adorned ballad that is a snapshot of Lorne’s life a few years ago. “That is about a time in my life when I was really struggling. I was worried about paying bills, and making rent, but I was also finding my way as a single father and feeling like my daughter was my purpose for living,” Lorne details.

Blue Love was produced and mixed by Matt Chiaravalle (Warren Zevon, Courtney Love, Debbie Harry, Joe Bonamassa), and features Ray Mazza on drums (Distefano Mazza, Apollo’s Ghost), Matt Dougherty on bass (Distefano Mazza), Steve Mosto on keyboards and backing vocals (Almost Brothers), and Danielle McCullough on backing vocals.

Before his solo career, Lorne played guitar in The Dimestore Haloes who "should have been huge,” once gushed taste-making Beantown alt-weekly The Boston Phoenix, and L.E.S. Stitches, vets of The Warped Tour who made a performance cameo in Spike Lee’s Summer Of Sam. His band The Dead Tricks worked with Goldfinger’s John Feldmann, and he was previously in The New York Dolls-y roots-punk band The Sweet Things who toured nationally and in the UK, and in 2019 released the critically acclaimed debut, In Borrowed Shoes, On Borrowed Time (Spaghetty Town Records).
